Geoffrey Cox, MP for West Devon and Torridge, invited schools in the constituency to take part in a competition organised by the Houses of Parliament. Participants were asked to design a Christmas card to celebrate Big Ben's 150th anniversary.
Mr Cox said he was delighted with the entries for the competition and found it difficult to select the winners. But he came to the conclusion that Freya Chambers, 11, from Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary School won first prize, with Dorota Wrzosek, 11, and Kimberly Braund, 5, both from St Mary's Primary School in Bideford as runners-up.
Mr Cox said: 'The standard really was very high and it took me some time to make a decision. All the children had clearly worked very hard; however, the three selected stood out because of their imaginative and vibrant use of design and colour. I wish them the very best of luck in going into the national competition.'
Mr Cox will present the winners with specially selected prizes, certificates, and badges from the Houses of Parliament.
