FRENCH Velosolex motorised bicycles will be taking to the roads on Dartmoor this week.
Approximately 40 of the machines will be ridden by members of the Association Bretonne Vehicules Anciens, who will be travelling from Brittany as part of the annual Solexine event. The visit will be hosted by fellow owners in Devon and they will set off on daily rides around the Dartmoor area.
One couple will be starting from Lille, taking a couple of weeks to complete the round trip.
The riders were due at a lunch at the Plume of Feathers, Princetown today (Thursday) and will attend a civic reception with the Mayor of Exeter at the Guildhall tomorrow.
The Velosolex is a motorised bicycle made in France and the design has not changed since it was first built in 1946.
It is the second largest selling motorcycle in the world and eight million have been sold.
