THERE has never been a better time for householders in West Devon to make sure that the festive season is also a safe one by getting a free home safety assessment pack or even a Home Safety visit from Devon and Somerset Fire Service.

Members of the service will attend a number of the December Connect drop-in sessions, and provide advice along with home safety assessment packs, designed to help keep a home safe over the holidays.

Some residents may even be eligible for a free home safety visit from a fire service representative, who will give advice and guidance.

If they are unable to attend one of the December events, residents can find out if they are eligible for the free home safety visit by calling 0800 7311 822.

Dates for December are: Exbourne, Burrow Café, December 3, 10am to noon; Hatherleigh Market, December 7, 9.30am to noon; Chagford, Whiddons Eatery, December 10, 9.30am to noon; Belstone, Village Hall, December 9, 10am to noon; Bere Alston, Hope Cottage Café, December 14, 10am to noon.
