TAVISTOCK BID has negotiated a deal which will bring free car parking to the town's Brook Street Car Park during March.
Aiming to bring early birds onto the high street, BID (Business Improvement District) has funded the scheme, which means shoppers will be able to park in the Brook Street Car Park free before 11am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Supported by BID levy payers this option was suggested by more than 60% of traders.
Adam Fleet, Tavistock BID manager, said: 'We are looking for ways to bring more people onto the high street and free parking is one of them.
'There is already a wealth of free parking on the high street which attracts shoppers so we want to add further options to bring people into the town during quiet times.'
'Free parking till 11am is great for those with a couple of hours free after dropping the children off to school or those looking for something to do before a lunch date.'
