FREE parking will be available in West Devon Borough Council car parks in Okehampton for Edwardian Evening and in Chagford for its late night Christmas shopping event.

In Okehampton parking will be free in the Mill Road and Market Street car parks from 4pm today (December 10) and in Chagford, parking will be free across the town from 4pm on Tuesday, December 15.

The council is keen to encourage as many people as possible to attend the events, drink mulled wine, eat mince pies and enjoy the festivities without having to worry about paying for parking or being back at their car before their ticket runs out.

Cllr Robert Sampson said: ‘It is important that we make parking at Christmas as easy as possible on our residents and their pockets.  It is an expensive time of year and we are happy to help ease a little of the burden on these special occasions.’
