REVELLERS will enjoy free parking in all West Devon Borough Council-owned car parks over the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Cllr James McInnes put the idea to councillors at its meeting recently and it was approved.

He told them: 'Free car parking on these days of celebrations will add to the vibrancy of the event and will help the economy of our towns and villages too.'

Residents and visitors to the borough will not be charged for parking from Saturday, June 2 to Tuesday, June 5 inclusive in the following car parks:

l Tavistock Abbey, Bank Square, Bedford, Brook Street, Chapel Street, Riverside, Russell Street and The Wharf.

l Okehampton Market Street and Mill Road.

l Chagford

l Hatherleigh Bridge Street.
