FREE energy saving advice workshops for Horrabridge residents are on offer next week, as part of an initiative from Transition Tavistock and the Energy Saving Trust. Two Horrabridge Energy Savers workshops will take place over the next couple of weeks — the first today (Thursday) in Horrabridge Village Hall from 7pm, titled 'DIY and Low Cost Improvements' with information on draught busting, low energy lighting options, DIY secondary glazing, loft insulation and pipe lagging. On May 15 a number of specialist sessions will be held in the village hall, with tips for energy saving in an older, traditionally built property at 6pm, the 'ins and outs' of external wall insulation by Jack Penfound from Greenhus at 7.15pm and a range of options for renewable energy in the home at 8.30pm. Refreshments and cakes are available at the workshops and people are welcome to bring along a drink or takeaway to enjoy during the sessions. People interested in checking their home energy usage can visit the home energy check at http://card.solsticecloud.com">http://card.solsticecloud.com to use the simple application. For help to complete the assessment, visit Horrabridge Primary School on Monday May 12 or at the village market at the youth club on Saturday (May 3) to speak to members of Transition Tavistock.
