A WORKSHOP is being held for community groups and organisations in Devon which are interested in learning more about the extra funding available through Crowdfund Devon.
Crowdfund Devon is an ambitious project bringing together six different funding partners, including West Devon Borough Council, to support Devon-based projects that are making a positive impact in their community.
The free workshop will be held at West Devon Borough Council’s offices at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock on Thursday, September 13 at 3pm.
Leader of West Devon Borough Council Cllr Philip Sanders said: ‘The Crowdfund Devon initiative is a fantastic opportunity for community groups and projects in our area to access funding that they might otherwise struggle to attract. Crowdfunding means that they can promote their idea, group or project to a worldwide audience online.
‘Each project will have its own dedicated webpage and the ability to reach out to individuals with a genuine interest in pledging funds to community causes. The added beauty of the Crowdfund Devon site is that it lists a range of funding pots that communities might tap into, including a £10,000 fund from West Devon Borough Council.
‘That said, it can be daunting if you’ve not heard of crowdfunding before, so this workshop will introduce groups and individuals to the process and the benefits, as well as covering essentials like what makes a good crowdfund project and where you can access help and support.
‘I’m really looking forward to seeing the projects develop across the community.’
The workshop is being run by crowdfunder.co.uk, the UK’s number 1 community crowdfunding platform, which has raised more than £50-million for businesses, charities and social enterprises across the UK.
Places can be booked online at www.eventbrite.com/crowdfund-devon-training-event-tickets-48947120154 and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
