A HUNGRY horse was rescued by firefighters last Thursday after it had fallen into a swimming pool at a property in Albaston. Fred, a four-year-old French stallion, got into trouble after he spotted some tasty grass in a garden near his field. Upon making this discovery the 16-2hands stallion jumped over two fences to reach the grass but failed to see the covered pool, and fell in. Firefighters from Callington, Bodmin and St Austell found Fred happily eating all the grass within his reach and in no distress. Even as the water was pumped from the pool he continued happily chomping away until his rescuers helped him out, using hay bales, provided by a local farmer. A vet also attended to ensure the welfare of the animal. The horse was well and left with his owner who took him back to the field — where he carried on eating.
