FRECKLES and Lizzie were the stars of the gun dog display at the show, organised by the North Devon Working Gundog Club.

Springer spaniel pup Freckles and her slightly older companion Lizzie, a black Labrador, were put through their paces by Graham Dibble and Zena Churchward. The club runs training classes during the summer which many West Devon dog owners attend.

Graham said: 'They just help people with the basic training, even if they don't necessarily want to work their dogs, but would just like to get the most out of them. They are a lot of fun.'

The club was formed in 1985 and caters for all breeds of retrievers and spaniels – although mixed breed dogs do attend classes, such as sprockers and springadosr In addition to training classes, there are inter club competitions and field trials.
