A WEST Devon housing association is looking to the future after getting the green light from a Government regulator in an annual assessment.

West Devon Homes has been given a maximum four green lights by the Housing Corporation for its performance in all areas of assessment following a successful in depth inspection last year into the standards of service and improvements.

The green lights for viability, governance, management and development all indicate there are no concerns about the association?s performance.

In particular the assessment highlights the quality of the association?s governance and management saying West Devon Homes has a ?strong commitment to equality and diversity? and a ?rigorous process of self analysis?, and their management performance is ?above average in terms of rent arrears, rent collection, re-let times and tenant satisfaction?.

West Devon Homes chief executive Stuart Davies said: ?On the back of a very positive inspection last year this gives us a clean bill of health.

?Our intention is now to continue developing new homes, increase the capacity and expand work with the Abbey Garage project and properties in the centre of Tavistock.

?We?ve created over a hundred new homes in our four year life and we will build on that success.?

Simon Howes, chairman of the board, said: ?This represents a further boost for the company trustees, staff and tenants.

?They should feel justifiably pleased that the hard work in getting West Devon Homes to its current position has been recognised in this assessment.?

The traffic light system assessment is aimed at discovering areas in which housing associations are having problems.

Amber indicates there may be a few problems and red assessments can lead to an association being given supervision or having regulatory action taken against it.
