NEW owners are aiming to provide higher customer service after buying Okehampton ?s Fountain Hotel in Fore Street. The Fountain Inn dates back in parts to the 17th and 18th centuries and comprises ground, first and second floors under a slate roof with public bar, lounge, restaurant, skittle alley and six letting rooms. The sale of the town centre-located inn was recently completed by Westcountry Commercial Business Agents in Crediton. The new owners are local accountant Nick Hamlyn and chef and hospitality entrepreneur Dave Wills. Dave said: ?The personal touch will now be reinforced and stamped on this already successful inn, and we will bring the Fountain Hotel to an even higher customer service level.? Selling agent Gary Cleverdon said the Fountain was an example of a coaching inn in one of Devon?s ?quality market towns? which catered for all aspect of the licensed industry in an ?enchanted, well-known building.? He added that the sale was another example of the firm?s ?confidential marketing style? with a sale being agreed ?nearly instantly upon instructions?.
