BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) proved that whatever the weather they can not only perform but still achieve fantastic times. This week?s event took them to Bideford for the annual 10k race. The weather was not on their side and with heavy rain and gale force winds the going was hard. The Bideford 10k is a flat course with two smallish hills and is a combination of road and track taking in some of Torridgeside?s outstanding beauty, including a section of the Tarka Trail. There were a couple of debuts for the club this week. Samantha Grylls was running her first 10k for the club and Kirsty Trotter was racing her first ever race for the club, both of these Bats were racing for the first time since their splendid efforts in the London Marathon last month. The Bideford 10k saw six personal bests (PB) for the club, three distance and three course PBs. This weekend will see the Bats taking part in the Plymouth Half Marathon.
