Tavistock U16s 5

Teignmouth U16s 35

WITH only 13 a side, Tavistock started the brighter with some excellent running rugby and a dominant pack against a strong visiting side.

Tavistock forwards dominated the scrum but the visitors quickly closed down the play when in the loose and opened the scoring with a breakaway try.

A second quickly followed and Tavistock went into half time 0-14 down.

The home side came out and continued to dominate the scrum in the second half but injuries to Monty Burdfield and Jez Cramoysan weakened the team further.

Tavistock, despite losing a further two tries, remained totally commited to the cause with Pete Meachin and Ali Dawe taking the physical challenge to the opposition.

Tavistock's dominant play in the forwards permitted an opportunity for Rob Hocking to go on a superb individual run to score under the posts.

Teignmouth, with the ability to rotate players at will, finished the game the stronger and scored a final try.

This was an excellent all round performance by the forwards and Sam Eaton's was Tavistock's player of the match.
