OKEHAMPTON Cycle Club members were in action last Thursday, competing in the Tamar CC 10-mile time trial event on the Sourton S40 course, which attracted 44 riders. The weather was hot and it was thought the conditions were a little too warm to achieve fast times. However, some 20 riders improved their personal best times. Unfortunately, this did not include the trio of club members taking part who had to settle for improvements on this year?s performances over the distance. Jacky Rice?s time of 24.56 was good enough to take the fastest lady prize for the event, Mike Rice clocked 25.01 and Tony Johnstone 25.57. Last Wednesday saw the continuation of the Okehampton Cycle Club summer time trial series with ideal weather conditions providing a good chance to clock a fast time. Steve Podd achieved the best time of the night, clocking 25.43 and in so doing set a new course record. Full results: S Podd 25.43; S Quigley 26.57; A Thorne 29.12; D Gribble 31.29. Club members were also active last Sunday on the 25-mile time trial hosted by the North Devon Wheelers on the A377 course, starting from Chulmleigh to Copplestone and back. Jacky Rice one again saw off the female competition to take the fastest lady prize with a time of 1.08.15.
