NEW homes are to be built on the site of a former caravan and camping park in Okehampton. An application by Persimmon Homes for 12 dwellings in Exeter Road was approved by West Devon Borough Council?s planning committee on Tuesday. The site is the former Yertiz Caravan and Camping Park and adjacent to the recently built Moorcroft development. Five letters of objection were submitted to the planning authority raising concerns about the impact on properties in Moorcroft Close, loss of trees and a conifer hedge and overlooking from the house on Plot 11. Planning officers said the house on Plot 11 had been repositioned so it was further from the boundary, therefore overcoming the main concern from neighbouring residents. The housing development will include terraces, flats above garages, detached and semi detached properties and have an area of public open space. The plans were approved subject to a number of conditions, including the submission of water drainage details.
