THE Rev Michael Brierley, priest-in-charge of Tavistock and Gulworthy, announced on Sunday that Tim Treanor has been appointed to serve as assistant curate in both parishes. Tim, 46, is currently training for ordained ministry at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, Oxford. He will be ordained on Sunday September 14 by the Bishop of Exeter in Exeter Cathedral, and will be moving to Tavistock from Barnstaple with his wife Emma and three teenage children. Before ordination training, Tim was an army officer for 23 years. He served with the Royal Engineers in many places. including West Germany, Hong Kong, Bosnia, Nepal and in the Ministry of Defence. His hobbies include running with his black Labradors. Michael said: 'I am absolutely delighted that Tim has accepted our invitation to join the team serving the parishes of Tavistock and Gulworthy. We look forward immensely to welcoming him and his family.' Tim said: 'It will be tremendous to begin my ordained ministry in Tavistock and Gulworthy. These are really vibrant communities with many things going on. I aim to become involved quickly and to contribute as much as I can.'
