THE Rotary Club of Hatherleigh and Hatherleigh Cricket Club's annual fun day takes place on Sunday August 28.

Organisers are looking for local voluntary groups to take part to help emphasise the community ethos. Any money raised by the groups can be used for their own benefit.

As usual there will be a dog show and traditional fayre stall and games. There will be entertainment from the All Star Majorettes, Bideford Pipe Band, the local fire and rescue service and much more.

Instead of the usual It's a Knockout-style contest, there will be a tug-of-war competition in the late afternoon, with a prize for the winning team. Organisers are keen to hear from people involved with the YFCs, local pubs, football clubs and tar barrel rolling to see if they can organise a team.

Members of the Rotary Club and cricket club will be selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and RNLI.

The event takes place at Hatherleigh Cricket Club from 1pm.
