THE Ancient Order of Foresters? Easter Ball was held at Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall recently, organised by Devon and Cornwall chairman Chris Hunn.
The event raised funds for the renal unit at Derriford Hospital ? a cause in which Chris has a deep personal interest since his daughter Clare underwent a kidney transplant there four years ago.
Unfortunately, the kidney has since failed and she is now receiving dialysis again while waiting on the transplant list for a second time.
The ball included a three-course meal together with a draw and a number of donations ? in total £450 was raised for the unit.
The event was followed by a luncheon at Metherell?s Cross House Inn last Sunday when a cheque was presented to representatives of Friends of the Renal Unit at Derriford Hospital.
The cheque was recieved by Friends chairman Mrs Wendy Dore accompanied by her husband, Charlie, the treasurer.
