A DAY to demonstrate good practice in farm safety is being held at Hatherleigh market next month. Farmers and farm workers will be able to get free practical training sessions in five key areas during the day: l ATV, practical demonstrations of risks involved in the use of ATVs l Farm Machinery Safety, the dangers, risks, safe usage and personal protection l Chainsaw Safety, a very practical guide to risks and safety when using chainsaws l Working at Heights, ladders, roofs, safety equipment and safe practice l Manual lifting, using correct methods and health and safety risks. The safety awareness event is the final one in the current Devon Farm Safety Forum programme. The event runs at the market from 10am to 2.30pm on Thursday, April 6. A number of professional trainers will facilitate instruction and outline some of the risks you need to be aware of to make sure your farm is safe. As a Lantra-registered training organisation, Devon Farm Safety Forum are in a position to issue a certificate of attendance to everyone who completes the day, which reinforces your commitment to health and safety.
