A NUMBER of entries from all over West Devon have been awarded a prestigious Taste of the West Award. More than 1,350 entries from all over the South West were judged at King?s School in Ottery St Mary, by a panel of judges consisting of industry experts, trade buyers and technical specialists. Gold, silver and bronze awards were granted to the finest food and drink products across Devon. John Sheaves, chief executive of Taste of the West, said: ?The cream of the crop have been awarded gold, silver and bronze awards for products that stand above the rest and that are an endorsement of both quality and integrity.? There were six winners from the West Devon area. Lovaton Farm from Okehampton received a silver award for its fillet steak and a gold award for its rump steak. And Fishleigh Estate from Okehampton received gold for its organic beef steaks. Moorlands Farm shop in Whiddon Down received both a bronze and silver award for its dri-cured smoked and unsmoked back bacon, a silver for its faggots and a silver for its hogs? pudding. Midfields Granola in Moretonhampstead gained a silver award for wheat free granola, and Eversfield Manor in Bratton Clovelly received two awards ? a silver for its organic ribeye steak and a gold for its lamb rump. Pyman Patés in Yelverton was also successful and gained a silver award for its chicken, brandy, port, cranberries and herb paté, a silver for duck, orange, Cointreau, vincotto and zest paté, and a bronze award for its duck, apricot, port and Cornish blue cheese paté.
