THE function room at the Ordulph Arms, Tavistock, saw 77 people hear Jane Luscombe, owner of Bistro Bene restaurant in Plymouth's Sutton Harbour, talk about how she found herself running a restaurant after leaving school with no qualifications. Jane told her life story to Taste and See members and explained how becoming a Christian had changed her outlook and gave her the confidence to open the restaurant. Over the next ten years, she and her sister, who is also her business partner, doubled its capacity to seat 85. She is now selling the business and developing different skills, including starting an art degree and providing prayer ministry to other people. Ruth Newman , chairman of Taste and See, thanked Jane for coming to Tavistock and giving much food for thought. The next meeting is on Friday June 15 and takes the form of a summer event at Whitchurch village hall, including drama and dancing and a buffet meal. To reserve tickets contact Linda Medland on 01822 615940. Taste and See is organised by a committee representing churches in the Tavistock area and is open to all women of any age.
