A TAVISTOCK mealtime assistant has said goodbye to the school she has been a part of for 31 years. Chris Johns said her fond farewells to pupils and staff at Whitchurch Primary School last Thursday (top picture). During an assembly in the morning children presented her with a book, and staff gave her seven wine glasses. She was also presented with a framed Long Service award from Devon County Council, signed by Anne Whiteley, director of children and young people's services. l A meal-time assistant who has been at St Peter's Junior School in Tavistock for 23 years has left to work at the other end of the age spectrum. June Foster was highly respected by the children and staff, who all said they were sorry to see her go and commented on her patience and caring. June said she had really enjoyed working at the school and would miss the friendliness of the children. She is now working in a care home, but is looking forward to travelling abroad. The school presented her with a cheque in appreciation of her excellent work over the years, to help her travel ambitions.
