STAFF, parents and pupils said a fond farewell to retiring deputy headteacher of Delaware Community Primary School Livinia Marshall after her 25 years' commitment to the school.

Mrs Marshall started teaching in 1974 and came to Delaware nine years later as a classroom teacher.

She was actively involved in numerous aspects of all the children's education, having also committed herself to various committees promoting the advancement of primary school education. She was also a prominent figure in the PTA.

A special ceremony was arranged for staff, parents and pupils to present Mrs Marshall with the many gifts they had bought to mark the retirement of a compassionate and well-loved teacher.

Far from taking it easy, Mrs Marshall is getting in training to run the London Marathon with her husband next year to raise funds for the community centre in her home village of Lifton.

She also intends to spend more time on her hobbies of gardening, environmental projects and ornithology.
