VOLUNTEERS of almost 25 years Bob and Niki

Brereton said goodbye to TASS (Tavistock Area

Support Services) last week.

Over the years the couple have driven thousands of miles to get people to their medical appointments or to take groups out on trips. TASS wished them well as they embarked on a new chapter in their lives, moving to Lincolnshire.

Manager of TASS Andy Lyle said: 'Bob and Niki gave their time to the people of the area, from Launceston to Bere Peninsula, Tavistock to Princetown and all the villages and hamlets in between. They covered thousands of miles, helping others get out and about, always with a smile on their face.

'They would get people to their appointments through rain, ice and snow and on Christmas Day they drove TASS buses, to help get people to The URC/Salvation Army Christmas lunch from all over our area.

'Between Christmas and New Year they would both drive two buses to take 26 people for a Christmas break at the Falmouth Beach Hotel.'

In 2009 the couple were recognised for all their voluntary work when Devon County Council presented them with a certificate of outstanding volunteer contribution to community transport in Devon.

TASS is always in need of volunteers to help either drive minibuses or help to get people to their hospital appointments. If you can help, contact Mr Lyle at TASS on 01822 616958.
