AN event offering an opportunity to learn about the practical aspects of running a farm holiday business is being held early next month. Devon Farms Accommodation, a cooperative of 140 farms offering bed and breakfast or self catering accommodation, is holding an open day, when members of the West Devon farming community will be able to learn the holiday business from members of the cooperative and from the many stands on site. The stands will include business and funding advice, a sign writing service, a professional photographer, hot tubs, a linen supplier and a variety of local food producers. Philippa Bignell, chairman of Devon Farms, said: ?For many farms now, a sustainable future must include some form of diversification. ?Our open day will show how a farm accommodation business can link together all our main selling points ? home produced food, beautiful countryside and well cared for stock ? yet provide a diversity of high quality holidays.? Everyone is welcome, and there will be a free buffet lunch, supplied by local farmers. The event is being held on Wednesday, March 8 from 11am to 3pm at Filleigh.
