A FUN day held at Focus DIY in Tavistock this autumn raised a splendid sum for a national charity. Staff at Focus held a Thunderbirds theme day at the store, which involved a variety of fundraising ideas such as fancy dress and competitions. Thanks to the generosity of customers in Tavistock, staff raised £605 for the Meningitis Trust. Jill Gater, of Focus, said: ?I would like to thank the staff and customers of Focus in Tavistock for making the fun day so successful. ?This is the third year we have held such an event and the national total raised to far stands at an astounding £230,000.? Chris Boey, corporate manager for the Meningitis Trust, said: ?I am delighted with the total raised from the Focus fun days. ?The money raised will help fund vital research, education programmes and provide support to people affected by meningitis.? In addition to raising funds, the Focus fun days helped raise awareness of meningitis and highlighted the importance of acting quickly to secure medical advice if the disease is suspected.
