A PHOTOGRAPHIC competition has been launched in support of the Charter Market and Stannary celebrations. The competition, which has been organised by the Charter Group in conjunction with Tavistock Camera Club, has free entry but offers cash prizes, trophies and certificates for all the winners. Camera club chairman Keith Urro said the competition?s theme was celebrating Tavistock?s markets, which meant it had a very wide brief. He said: ?This competition is targeted at young people so no-one should be put off by their age or perhaps their lack of experience. In addition, there is an exhibition at the museum which shows where all Tavistock?s markets are, both past and present, so that should help anyone who is stuck for ideas.? There are two categories of entry: up to the age of 11 and up to the age of 18. First prize in each category is £50 and second prize £25. Up to two photographic prints may be entered and may be black and white or colour. Cllr Iain Andrews, chair of the Charter Group, said he was pleased the partnership was delivering an opportunity for all the young people of Tavistock to enjoy a different way of celebrating the Charter. ?We are indebted to Tavistock Camera Club for organising this competition and we look forward to seeing all the winning entries at the exhibition that will take place in the library.? Any enquiries can be made through Keith Urro at Tavistock Camera Club on 01822 810981 or [email protected]">[email protected] and information is also available at Tavistock Library. Closing date for entries is Friday, May 27.
