TWO Tavistock men have scooped prizes in a photography competition organised by a South West charity. John Maddock came second in the photographic competition organised by South West Lakes Trust?s community liaison officer Paul Gregory, who invited entries on the subject of Lopwell Dam. In third place was teacher Graham Woollven. Prizes in the competition included Opticron binoculars, a telescope, a signed book and a year?s membership to the Friends of the South West Lakes Trust. The competition was judged by Evelyn Stacey, trust director, professional photographer Ross Hoddinott and Mr Gregory, with the winners being presented with their awards at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock. Mr Gregory said the overall quality of images was very high, making it difficult to come to a final decision. ?I would like to thank all the entrants and the London Camera Exchange for the first place prize. ?It is likely that the winning images will be used in future promotions of Lopwell Dam, which was recently designated as a Local Nature Reserve in conjunction with English Nature and West Devon Borough Council.? The winning images can be viewed on the trust?s website at http://www.swlakestrust.org.uk">www.swlakestrust.org.uk South West Lakes Trust is still involved with the project to raise funds to convert the redundant pump house at Lopwell into an education and arts centre.
