FOUR small aeroplanes flew over a wartime airfield at Harrowbeer recently, to celebrate the publication of Lilian Harry?s latest book. The RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group supported the launch of West Devon bestselling author, Lilian Harry, as the book is based on life on and around the former World War Two airfield and the surrounding villages. ?A Song at Twilight? tells the story of an RAF pilot Andrew Knight and his wife Alison who come to live in Milton Combe when he is posted to the airfield in 1943. Lilian Harry, with the help of the interest group, hopes she has been able to give an authentic feel of life in the area in 1941 when 23,000 military personnel of many nationalities were brought to the large airfield on Roborough Down.
