THE Armed Forces Day flag was flown at West Devon Borough Council's offices in Tavistock to coincide with a national day of recognition last week. The Mayor of West Devon, Cllr Christine Marsh, raised the special flag at Kilworthy Park on Friday, June 27 ahead of the main celebration which this year fell on Saturday, June 28. She was joined by Malcolm Christie from the Tavistock branch of the Royal British Legion, fellow borough councillors and council staff. Cllr Marsh said: 'This event is a wonderful opportunity for the people of West Devon and the whole country to show their appreciation of what our service personnel have done and continue to do. 'Every day, the men and women of our Armed Forces make huge personal sacrifices for us — and their families do too. 'I hope that by flying this flag we can show our admiration and gratitude for the work they continue to do.'    Cllr Marsh will also be attending an Armed Forces Day event on Plymouth Hoe which is one of the largest celebrations in the region. Her mayoral charity for her term in office is the Royal British Legion.
