HATHERLEIGH was treated to an evening of superb music recently, when Sally Price and Adam Walker performed L'histoire du Tango, a flute and harp recital. The event was the second in the series of Four Concerts in the West, organised by Catherine Hodgson of the London Handel Festival and was held at the new Hatherleigh Community Centre. The wide ranging progamme extended from the structured baroque of J S Bach to the 1950s modern classicism of Stephen Dogson's Duo and concluded with the complex Variations by Jean-Michel Domase, based on the English folk tune 'Early one Morning'. The concert was very well attended and the audience highly appreciative of such high quality and skilled musicianship from two rising stars of the music world. The next concert at the community centre, a piano recital by Alasdair Beatson, is at 7.30pm on Saturday May 12. Tickets are available from the Salar Gallery in Hatherleigh on 01837 810940 and on the door.
