Bodmin Trophies Duchy League Division Two Lamerton 3 St Anne?s Chapel 0 LAMERTON were given a tough game by local rivals St Anne?s Chapel with the final score somewhat flattering the home side. It was fairly even for the first half hour, with the deadlock broken when Kev Swift challenged for the ball in the area and Steve Gibbings fired in from a narrow angle. The second goal came with a quarter of an hour left when Paul Cowling fed Lee Wickett who finished clinically. The third came when Steve Roast intercepted the ball on the right wing and cut inside to hammer the ball past the keeper to ensure the points. St Stephen?s Borough 0 Lamerton 1 LAMERTON played their best football of the week against a good Borough side challenging for promotion and ended worthy winners. Despite having the better of play in the first half of the game and hitting the woodwork the game was goalless after 45 minutes. The visitors upped the pressure after the interval and eventually the goal came. Good work down the left from James Healy, Dave Byworth and Pete Broomfied saw the ball crossed into the box where Kev Swift converted the chance with a deft volley. Broomfield, Zac Beesley and Panda Williams all came close in the later stages of the game but a second goal was not forthcoming. The Lamerton back four were solid throughout with full backs Will Cann and Williams impressive. Lamerton 3 Newmoor 0 PLAYING their fourth game in eight days Lamerton were slow to get into the game against an organised and committed Newmoor. In fact the visitors were the better side in the first half but chances at either end were few and far between. Within five minutes of the second half Lamerton went in front when the Newmoor keeper failed to clear a Panda Williams corner and Lee Wickett hooked the ball in from close range. The home side pressed forward and Williams was again the provider when Paul Cowling shrugged off a couple of challenges and slid the ball home. A pass from Dave Byworth then found Kev Swift in the box. He lofted the ball into the top corner to complete the scoring and a good week for Lamerton in their quest for promotion.
