A SPECIAL flag showing support for service men and women will be flown at West Devon Borough Council's offices as part of a national day of recognition. The mayor of West Devon, Cllr Christine Marsh, will be raising the flag at Kilworthy Park in Tavistock in time for Armed Forces Day which this year takes place on Saturday, June 28. Cllr Marsh said: 'It's a special year for the armed forces as we remember the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and mark the centenary of World War One. 'I have chosen the Royal British Legion as my mayoral charity and I am keen to do all I can to support this good cause, and to recognise the contribution made by our armed service personnel, both past and present. 'Armed Forces Day events are taking place across the country and flying the flag is our small way of joining in and showing our support.' Cllr Marsh will also be attending an Armed Forces Day event on Plymouth Hoe which is one of the largest celebrations in the region.
