TAVISTOCK seconds hockey team, unbeaten so far this season, faced a strong side. With new players among the squad Tavistock struggled in the first half and it showed as the home team put the pressure on the defence.

By half-time United Services were three goals the better. Tavistock changed their formation for the second half, and with a stronger midfield started to play more as a team. The breakthrough came as Cowen Snr scored his first goal of the season.

Tavistock gained in confidence and after a short corner Mackintosh scored their second. But United Services showed their fitness, put keeper Osbourne under constant attack, and scored their fourth goal. Glanville kept discipline among the defenders and frustrated the home side from scoring more goals.
