Porthleven 3

Tavistock 1

THE season came to an end for the Lambs at Gala Park last Sunday. Chris Abbott stepped up from the P & D side to lead the attack alongside Craig Brook and in the first half they dominated proceedings. John Gosling was unlucky to see his free kick bounce back off the crossbar and Abbott charged down a clearance but hesitation in front of goal let him down. He then combined with Brook but again failed to take the chance.

They finally took a deserved lead seven minutes before the interval when Craig Hodge stabbed home a Chris Kiely free kick.

The Fishermen came out a different side for the second half and immediately had a free kick that Meeds did well to push around a post for a corner.

They were soon back on level terms when the Lambs lost the ball in midfield and the home side quickly counter-attacked for ex-Lambs striker Andy Bowker to shoot home from close range.

Porthleven went into the lead on 67 minutes when again confusion reigned in the Lambs midfield to leave Danny Williams a simple tap-in at the far post. Bowker hit a post before they went further ahead. Danny McTighe's weak corner was cut out at the near-post and the home side broke quickly to allow Williams to grab his second near the end.

It had been a difficult run in to the end with three games against the leaders of the league, however, overall it has been a good season with the Lambs finishing in eighth position.
