NEW boats have been provided to fishermen of Sri Lanka to replace those lost in the Tsunami Disaster thanks to Okehampton donations. After discussion with the Sri Lanka Lions Club it was decided that Okehampton and District Lions Club would fund the supply of new fishing boats. The Crossways Inn at Folly Gate raised enough money to purchase one boat, further funds were donated from the Okehampton Lions Club to allow two additional boats to be ordered and built. The photogtraph shows Mark Anthony, President of the 306c Sri Lanka Lions Club, pointing out where ?Donated by Okehampton Lions Club? will be printed. These boats have now been delivered and are in everyday use by the local fishermen. Okehampton Lions Club expressed thanks to the people of Okehampton and District for helping them to supply these valuable items. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank all residents whose generosity enabled a supply of much needed medicines, tents, sleeping bags, utensils and clothing to Sri Lanka last year. In conjunction with many other local groups, the Lions Club also helped with the collection of funds, which have gone towards the building of a new school in Sri Lanka.
