Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 3 Totnes 0 TAVISTOCK hockey ladies were quick to intercept the ball and feed it into the opposition?s D. Jo Gaspar had a few shots on goal and Laura Armstrong put the goalkeeper under pressure. When Totnes won the ball back the strong tackling skills of the midfield of Emma White, Susannah Boulle and Lisa Butler allowed it to be fed back to the running play of Robynne Honey and Julia Firth. Tavistock were strong at the back with Bex Creasy back in goal. A couple of short corners were awarded to the opposition but Dunn was out too quick for these players. With Boulle, Stapleton and Creasy strong in their positions nothing could get through the goal. A disgruntled Totnes player argued with the umpire resulting in a green card. White, Honey and Gaspar made a new triangle to get the ball into the D to put pressure on the defence. The second half saw more physical tackling but despite this Totnes could not take the ball from the swift play of Armstrong. She scored the second goal of the match. An incident which involved Dunn being struck on the head from a Totnes player resulted in this player being yellow carded and ?sin binned?. Tavistock remained calm and kept their formation and played some good hockey. Dunn had a run up the pitch and entered the D with the ball. It went to Honey who took a shot at goal which unfortunately was rebounded. Later on in the game Butler passed the ball to Honey who crossed a lovely ball, enabling Gaspar to have a shot in the D. It was through this shot that Firth picked up the rebound and scored the third and final goal. Tavistock were pleased with their performance and having the ability to keep their heads when all around them were losing theirs! This week Tavistock play their last league match before Christmas against St Agnes at Poltair School, St Austell.
