FOR the first game of the season Tavistock travelled to Ottery but ended up facing a weaker team than expected.
Taking the opportunity to try out some youngsters, the visiting side tore the home defence apart and within the first ten minutes were 4-0 up.
Young player Alex Newman revelled in the opportunity to show his skills and Oliver Cowan D'Arcy showed great tenacity and vision on the pitch.
Hat-tricks by captain Carl Jefferies and Nick Andrews proved to be the bedrock of the result with further goals added by Phil Edwards, Newman, Shane Lovett and Ricky Bellard.
Tavistock scored some well constructed goals in a match which proved to be more of a training exercise and hopefully will be of great value in the invitation tournament at Bull Point this weekend against stronger opposition.
