The rugby season at Mount House is now well under way with all of its seven sides playing fixtures over the past week. The 1st XV (U13s) enjoyed a successful start to its fixture list with two excellent wins over local rivals

Mount House 1st XV 42

MOUNT House played their first away match of the season on a hard pitch and seemed to enjoy the conditions. They were soon ahead 14-0 following tries by Tom Painter and Henry Manning.

Solid scrummaging and line out play saw the visitors win plenty of set ball, but the loose ball usually ended up in the home team's hands. With the Mount House three-quarters dominating, two more tries from Painter and Doug Love gave the visitors a comfortable 28-0 half-time lead.

This was increased in the opening moments of the second half with an excellent try by Harry Cousens. Sloppy play gifted the home side two tries before Painter completed his hat-trick. His conversion of his own try brought him a 100% record with the boot and a 27-point personal tally.

Mount House 1st XV 57

THIS was a fine performance by a side steadily growing in confidence. The forwards rucked quickly and effectively to give the threequarters good ball.

This was used to great effect with centre Tom Painter scoring five times, while Tom Lawson scored a hat-trick of tries on his full 1st XV debut.

Handling and lines of running were sound and the interplay between backs and forwards of a high quality.

While the heavy try scorers had excellent matches, Henry Manning, George Coombs, Finlay Maclaren and Harry Cousens all enjoyed fine games.
