THERE was a tuneful start to a series of concerts which are raising funds for an organ restoration. St Eustachius Parish Church, Tavistock, is currently trying to raise £3,500 to restore the church organ, which is one of the largest in the area. The concert on Saturday was the first in a series of four set to take place between September and November, which will help to contribute to the organ restoration fund appeal. Brian Chapple (pictured left), a pianist and respected composer from Tavistock, took centre stage, playing a varied and vibrant repertoire, which included Bach, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and Grieg as well as Brian?s latest composition, two of the ?Assorted Bagatelles?. The money raised will go directly towards the restoration, to help keep the parish church at the forefront of choral and orchestral music presentation in the South West. The next concert in the series is on Saturday, September 24, with an organ recital performed by Sean Sweeney.
