THE Lakeside Restaurant at Roadford Lake heralded its first lecture lunch success as independent auctioneer Michael Bowman entertained a local audience followed by a lunch cooked by new chef Peter Millington. Managed by charity South West Lakes Trust the lecture lunch was the first of many events inviting people to visit the Lakeside Restaurant and see the new Lakeside venue taking shape. Mr Bowman had invited guests to bring along a collectable for valuation and was delighted with the range of items, which included a vase, a ring, a silver sugar bowl and a three legged cockerel! The Lakeside venue which has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, South West Regional Development Agency, Objective 2, South West Forest and West Devon Borough Council, will open in late July this year and is available for weddings, celebrations, conferences, meetings and training. Prior to its opening the trust will be holding several similar events including a lecture supper, with a presentation on the RNLI on Monday May 16 at 7.30pm, tickets costing £8 per person. Following this will be a second Wine and Wisdom, after the success of the Comic Relief Wine and Wisdom which raised £160, on Wednesday May 25 starting at 7.30pm for teams of four to six people at £4 per person.
