PEOPLE packed into St Paul's Church Hall in Yelverton to take part in the '[email protected]' service on Pentecost.

The informal service has been running for a year, during which time many people have enjoyed the informal times of worship, which are ideal for all ages.

Associate priest in the Mission Community the Rev Gary Shirley said: 'We made a banner. It had a candle to celebrate our birthday as well as remembering that it is Pentecost, the time when the holy spirit marked the beginning of the church.

'We are going to use our banner each month and keep it in St Paul's Church.'

The Rev Preb Nick Shutt, Rector of West Dartmoor Mission Community, said: 'What better way to celebrate our first birthday than with a birthday cake as part of our service on Pentecost? We had a really good celebration.

'It's not only the children who enjoy the glue and glitter — everyone has a go — and that's important because the church is for everyone, whatever their age.'
