TAVISTOCK Street Pastors celebrated their first anniversary last week by commissioning a new group of street and prayer pastors.
The street pastors currently patrol the town on Saturday evenings, but the new recruits will allow for patrols on Friday evenings as well.
The pastors have become a well-known, friendly sight, patrolling the town until 2am. They have built up a positive rapport with the public and are well accepted locally.
The commissioning service took place last week at St Eustachius' Church and was well attended.
During the last year, the street pastors picked up more than 500 glasses and bottles — all potential weapons.
