BERE ALSTON's Chatterbox Parents' Group is celebrating after completing a six week certificated paediatric First Aid course.
Ann, the instructor from Triangle Training, made the course very enjoyable but also extremely informative. Fourteen parents participated and successfully completed the course and two have already put the training into good use — proving how valuable first aid knowledge really is.
Thanks have been expressed to Ann and also Julie Marks and the staff from Tavistock Children's Centre (TCC) who ran the crèche enabling the Chatterbox Group to run and participate in the course. TCC also funded the course for Chatterbox members and three parents from the surrounding area.
The group has recently enjoyed a book presentation by Usborne Books and is planning a sponsored bounce on March 21 to fundraise alongside Tiddlywinks toddler group in Bere Alston Parish Hall.
All proceeds will be split between the two groups and spent on equipment, courses and trips.
Other plans for the next couple of months include a jewellery making session, taster handbell ringing session, the village carnival, the group's first birthday on June 5 and a child development/parenting course.
Anyone interested in coming along to Chatterbox is very welcome to drop in any Friday between 1pm and 2.45pm in Hope Cottage Café. For more details contact Julie Overnell on 01822 840452.
