YELVERTON firefighters were called to deal with vehicle blazes on two consecutive nights last week. During the early hours of Wednesday morning crews attended a blaze in a car at Cadover Bridge. Firefighter John German said the car was on the carriage way, so the road had to be closed for a short time. ?The fire actually melted the tarmac,? said Mr German. And at 1.09 am on Thursday morning, one appliance was called to deal with a vehicle fire on the A386 on Roborough Down, by the Bere Alston junction. No-one was hurt in either incident. l Firecrews from Tavistock were called to Chelfham School at Kilworthy, near Tavistock, last Thursday, after a fire was reported in one of the classrooms. Firefighters using breathing apparatus and a hosereel extinguished the small fire ? no-one was hurt in the incident, which occurred at around 8.30pm.
