A WEDDING shop in Tavistock has closed after part of its premises failed a fire safety inspection. Devon Fire and Rescue Service issued a prohibition notice telling the owners of the Perfect & Elegant boutique in Market Street not to use the third floor for members of the public. Staff opened the shop on the last day of May to give dresses to some customers who had paid for their gowns, and letters have been issued to all customers. In a statement to the Times this week the company said: 'Every bride that has been in contact with Perfect & Elegant have either received their dress or received a full refund. We are still having stragglers that have not contacted us since the letter was issued. 'Perfect & Elegant have not closed due to liquidation, it is due to fire regulations. 'Floors in the shop have been closed down to the general public and we do not want someone to have an accident, so we have decided to close the doors. We may re-open if we can get renovations sorted out.' Customers have been referred to a list of suppliers if they have ordered clothes and telephone numbers have been put on the website.
