TAVISTOCK firefighters were called to three incidents in a row on Sunday morning.

At around 9am they were summoned to a fire at Madge Court, but this was found to be only a small fire caused by a toaster, which was soon extinguished.

On the crew?s return, they were called to a road traffic accident at Blackdown, where the driver of a car had lost control on a corner, skidded off the road and gone down a bank. The three occupants were uninjured, but they were fears the car might catch fire.

As they were leaving this incident, they were approached by a lady on horseback who was concerned about the condition of a friend who had fallen off her horse about one-quarter of a mile inside the moor near Willsworthy Down.

The crew attended the scene of the incident and administered first aid to the 48-year-old woman, who was believed to be from Plymouth and was thought to have a broken leg. They remained at the scene until the air ambulance, took the woman to Derriford Hospital.
