POLICE are investigating a fire in the bus station toilets in Plymouth Road, Tavistock last week.

The fire was discovered at 5.48am on Monday June 6, and the fixtures and fittings inside were destroyed.

Repair of the toilets are expected to take two to four weeks but two unisex cubicles are still fully operational during the day.

Chairman of West Devon Borough Council's environment committee, Cllr Robert Oxborough, said: 'We are working to get the toilet cubicle re-opened as soon as possible. In the meantime we are directing people who require 24-hour toilet facilities to use those by the Guildhall or those in the Bedford Car park.

'We'd like to thank the public for their understanding and patience.'

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact PC Hall at Tavistock Police Station, quoting crime ref JT/11/602.
