ORGANISERS are hoping for lots of sunny weather to a make Bere Ferrers Watersports Day go with a splash at the end of the month.

The event on June 26 kicks off at 3pm with the first game starting in the river mud. A barbecue and bar will be available.

Attractions for children include a bouncy castle and face painting. and as the tide comes in, the popular crabbing competition.

There will be lots of stalls including the WI's refreshment stall. Any requests for a stall should be directed to Margaret Willmott at Margaret's Hairdressing, Bere Ferrers.

The raffle will be run in two parts – one in the afternoon and the other in the evening and the popular static motor cycle display will be returning with some vintage models.

The games culminate in the hugely popular greasy pole event, to enter a team of four, contact Trevor Grinstead at Bere Ferrers Post Office as soon as possible.

The barbecue becomes the Hog Roast at 7pm and it is hoped there will be a large-screen television on the stage to show England's World Cup second round match. This will be followed by the headline band Quadcore, who will play from around 9-11pm, with fireworks to follow. A disco will finish the event up to midnight.

Parking is severely limited so drivers are being asked to follow the direction arrows to an area of the Recreation field cordoned off.
